Picture Post

"BLURRY VISION"

NEVER KNEW A GASEOUS MURDER
COULD BRING ME TO SUCH PAIN,
WITHOUT PROTECTION OF MY EYES
I MAY NOT SEE AGAIN.
IT'LL RUIN YOUR INSIDES,
YOUR EYES, AND YOUR LUNGS
NO MATTER WHERE YOU HIDE,
FIND NO ESCAPE FROM IT
THE PAIN'S SO BAD YOU'D WISH YOU'D DIE.

"THE DARK PEARL"

SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VIEW WAS HARSHLY
RUINED BY A BOMB,
SOON AFTER THERE WAS NOTHING TO SEE CUS
OF THE BLACK SMOKE AND THICK FOG.
NOTHING ELSE TO DO BUT
TO SCREAM AS WE ALL RAN,
ASKING OURSELVES "WHY COULDN'T THEY
JUST STAY IN JAPAN?"
MINDING THEIR BUSINESS JUST AS WE WERE,
NOW BECAUSE OF THEM OUR PEARL
HARBOR LOOKS LIKE A DARK PEARL.

IS WAR NECESSARY?!!!

10.16.08

i personally don't think war is necessary because its pretty much just a waste time. and all it does is take the lives of innocent people that deserve to live just like the rest of us. Not only does it kill many people but it also puts our country in debt, with all the wasted money on the guns and the other weapons that they need to fight the war. Take the situation we're going through now. We were in this long war which put us in this huge debt and where did it get us? NOWHERE. Yeah there has been wars that have brought something better for a country but it doesn't always go that way. So my thoughts on whether its necessary or not... I dont think so!

HOW THE WORLD WOULD BE DIFFERENT

10.15.08

1. If the enlightenment would've not occured, we wouldn't have todays government.
2. The Industrial Revolution brought new inventions (mostly machinery) which made any type of work way more easier.
3. without the Scientific revolution, Calculus would be unknown.
4. We wouldn't know about gravity if it wasn't for the Scientific Revolution.
5. Without the Industrial revolution, we wouldn't have the type of transportation we have now.
6. We wouldn't have freedom of speech or pretty much anything else.
7. We would't know about stars or planets without the Scientific Revolution.
8. We wouldn't really know anything about the human body without the Scientific Revolution.
9. Without the enlightenment, we wouldn't have any rights like the right to life, liberty, or freedom.
10. People would still be living in tenements.

Columbina exchange reflection

10.13.08

i think that the Columbian exchange made many differences to the New World because it introduced lots of new things to it. the exchange introduced new types of foods that helped them have a better nutrition, better diet, and just a better way of eating overall. something else the exchange introduced to the New world was a variety of weapons that advanced their way of protection, but no only did the exchange bring good things to New world, it also had a down side to it because of the many diseases it brought like mumps, measles and smallpox which came to affect many people. so with this being said, my overall thoughts about the Columbian Exchange is that it produced both positive and negative effects to the New world.

discovering the undiscovered.

Cristina Reyes
9.23.08

If I were an astronaut in the future and was asked to go to outer space I would definitely be curious to go but I would also have to think about it because I wouldn't know what to expect since I'm unfamiliar with it. I think that if I was to go, there would be many rewards since I took that risk and not only that also what if I come to find or discover something that will help on earth like some kind of cure for a disease that hasn't been found yet or something related to that. or maybe even find something that comes to be very valuable on earth. also going to outer space to me is a really big risk since like I said before you're unfamiliar with its surroundings. like what happens out there or what will you have to do in order to be safe from whatever occurs, or how to try and prevent something that can probably put you in danger. I'm not really big on the whole taking risks idea but going somewhere that you really wont have another chance to go sounds kind of fun so with this being said I would probably choose to go but definitely not alone.

Assignment 5. Spread of Knowledge

Cristina Reyes

9.15.08

Out of all the new inventions now a days I would definitely have to say that the computer has had a great effect on all of us. The reason why I say this is because now pretty much everything is done on a computer like school work, grading, business jobs, etc. and for some reason it seems that without a computer nothing would be able to get done. Computers have been around for some time now, and I'm not sure what was used before they came out but I'm pretty sure it was a typewriter. Typewriters are still used today but very few people use them because they're still not as advanced as the computer is. Computers are not only used for typing, they are also used for any type of research you might need to do for your job or school, they can be used for a form of communication, for any entertainment, and so on. It just makes everything seem much more easier to do.

The Printing Press seemed to have had a big effect on many people back then because if it was me having to copy another whole book word for word I'd rather just not have been interested in even learning how to read nor write. From what I was told I learned that back then they didn't even have pens or pencils, and that their only writing utensil was a feather and some ink, so if they messed up they had to start over. For the people that were rewriting books I know it took them for ever to at least finish a simple sentence. When the Printing Press was invented I know those people were the happiest ever because they didn't have to spend all day writing some book. It was still some work that had to be done while using the Printing Press but it was way more easier then before and not only were they remaking one book they were able to make plenty books at a faster pace, now many people had books, they were probably being sold at a cheaper price, people were probably learning how to read and understand more things with their new invention.

Carpe diem

I'm not really familiar with the meaning of Carpe Diem so its kind of hard for me to say whether I agree on it or not, but from what I've read it means " Seize the day." Its always nice to have a good time but you have to also think on the consequences you get out of your enjoyment, because some people have fun in different ways like some people like going to the beach, while others have fun burning or breaking stuff. Sometimes you have to think of what you're going to do because whatever you're doing might affect someone or something in the future. So with this being said I personally don't agree with the saying of"Carpe Diem."
